NAVIGON offers mobile phone navigation for all

NAVIGON MobileNavigator is available for all the relevant smartphone platforms. The onboard software opens the door to orientation that is just as reliable as it is flexible for a growing target group.

NAVIGON_feature_visual_RealityViewPro_mn7_iPhone_enHamburg, 16 February 2010 – The mobile phone navigation market is growing: according to market researchers from Strategy Analytics, around 53 million smartphones were sold worldwide during the last quarter of 2009, more than ever before. “This development highlights people’s growing need for mobile ways in which to organise their daily lives,” says Gerhard Mayr, Vice President World-Wide Mobile Phone Business. “NAVIGON is catering for this trend with a solution that is both flexible and reliable.” With MobileNavigator, the company has developed a navigation solution that supports all the key mobile phone platforms – from the iPhone, android and Windows Mobile (Windows phone) to Symbian.

The best of both worlds
MobileNavigator for smartphones combines the advantages of onboard navigation and mobile Internet: route calculations take place independently of the mobile phone network as the map material is stored locally on the device. In addition, dynamic information such as traffic services, Google Local Search, Facebook or Twitter can be accessed online. NAVIGON is therefore guaranteeing its customers reliable orientation at any time – with success: the company is currently the leader in the relatively new market for online mobile phone navigation.1 NAVIGON Live Services also puts it ahead in terms of up-to-date data by using the advantages of mobile communication. These services access real-time information on the traffic conditions, weather or the car parking situation via the mobile phone network.

In harmony with the hardware
NAVIGON AG has nearly 20 years’ experience and regularly develops innovations for the portable navigation sector, automotive industry and mobile phone industry. “During development, our goal is always to ensure that our navigation solutions work in harmony with the relevant platform,” says Mayr. MobileNavigator thus integrates seamlessly into the relevant operating system, allowing for intuitive operation. NAVIGON has also integrated other selected features into the different versions in addition to Live Services. “Mobile phone navigation is playing an increasingly bigger role. In 2010, we anticipate that this area will account for ten to fifteen per cent of our total sales,” says Mayr. “With MobileNavigator, we are in an ideal position for responding to growing interest in mobile phone navigation. We are of course continually working to further develop the software so that we can provide reliable navigation services and real-time information to smartphone users using all the relevant platforms.”
