Free NAVIGON MobileNavigator update for Android phones
A NAVIGON MobileNavigator update is now available for smartphones running the booming Android¹ operating system. The update is free and will add four new features to the on-board solution – including the popular NAVIGON MyRoutes for personalised route calculation. Users will also benefit from the integration of permanently installed safety cameras and additional language versions with the new software version.
Hamburg, 25 May 2010 – The award-winning NAVIGON MobileNavigator on-board application for phones running the Android operating system is getting an update. All those using the NAVIGON software for Android will benefit from four new features and seven additional language versions. In addition, this version now also supports smartphones with QVGA resolution.
Tracking down the best route – NAVIGON MyRoutes
The NAVIGON MyRoutes feature now turns Android phones into personal route planners. The driver is given up to three route recommendations to choose from. The route recommended by NAVIGON is marked with the NAVIGON MyRoutes label – based on the driving behaviour to date. The user’s personal driving style, the day of the week and the time of day are all taken into consideration in these route recommendations. “This way, the system learns and route recommendations and arrival times will become more and more accurate over time based on the user’s actual, personal driving behaviour”, says Gerhard Mayr, Vice President of World-Wide Mobile Phone Business. “With NAVIGON MyRoutes, we are now integrating one of the most popular features from our latest generation of PNDs and our iPhone software into NAVIGON MobileNavigator for Android.”
In the interest of diversity – coordinates entry and Google Local Search
The new version of MobileNavigator Android offers two additional options for defining destinations: by entering coordinates, the user can navigate their way to a specific destination, completely without any need for road or place names. And, even if they do not know either the address or the coordinates of a destination, NAVIGON MobileNavigator for Android can now provide extra help: thanks to a direct link to Google Local Search, a hip restaurant, a popular shopping street or a lovely ice cream parlour are all just a click away. The Android smartphone takes care of the navigation, leaving the driver to take care of the driving and the shopping.
Playing it safe
Tried-and-tested functions such as Lane and Speed Assistant and RealityView Pro from the previous version of MobileNavigator remain an integral part of the software. Drivers will get to their destination more safely and have a more relaxed journey if they are not caught out by a radar speed camera. The Safety Camera feature is now integrated into the software and provides visual and audio warnings ahead of dangerous areas2.
The update version of NAVIGON MobileNavigator for Android smartphones is available to download immediately. New customers will also benefit from an attractive launch offer. Up to and including 31.05.2010, the regional versions cost 39.95 euros and the Europe version is available for 59.95 euros. There is an opportunity to try the software for free for 30 days with the no-obligation Try&Buy option.
