Next exit Ischgl – head to Tyrol for a skiing holiday with NAVIGON

Guaranteed snow and numerous events make Ischgl a popular winter sports destination – even in spring. Visitors can compete against international skiing stars in a giant slalom, visit the night-time toboggan run or explore the area on a sleigh. Party people can enjoy concerts by Culcha Candela and The Killers or sample the après-ski. Further details for a varied holiday are available from NAVIGON City Highlights Ischgl.

Hamburg, 17 March 2011 – Besides the extensive skiing region, Ischgl is famous for its numerous events. Top international acts such as Kylie Minogue, Elton John and Bon Jovi have already graced the “Top of the Mountain stage” with concerts in the heart of the Silvretta ski arena. In addition, stars like Paris Hilton and Jon Bon Jovi are also regular visitors to the Tyrol region, which is regarded as the original home of après-ski. NAVIGON and the Paznaun-Ischgl tourism association present a range of tips, including events away from the piste and nightlife.

Compete with the best for the Silvretta trophy in the giant slalom
NAVIGON_CityHighlights_Ischgl_lowresOn 16 April, the giant slalom for the Silvretta trophy will be held for the second time, whereby leisure skiers can compete against former and current greats of the skiing world, as well as hopeful young skiers. Around 60 gates must be passed through over a two-kilometre-long course with a 450-metre difference in height. Prizes worth €8,000 await the winners. Those interested in taking part can register at

Get some sun during the day – enjoy the snow in the evening on the night-time toboggan run
Even the best skiers sometimes need a break. With more than five hours of sun each day, in Ischgl you can not only recharge your batteries but also stock up on some sunshine: at numerous mountain restaurants and lodges there are sunloungers inviting you to relax and enjoy the breathtaking view. The sleigh rides are particularly popular with families and offer a different perspective. From the cushioned rear seat you can explore the fascinating surroundings in complete comfort. Another highlight awaits visitors once the sun sets: the floodlit night-time toboggan run is open every Monday and Thursday evening until the beginning of April. After the ascent with the Silvretta cable car (available between 7 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.), the seven-kilometre-long route winds its way down to the valley below. Toboggans can be rented locally.

Rock and percussion with “the next step” and “The Killers”
On 31 March, “the next step” ensemble is playing at the Silvretta Center in Ischgl. The percussionists are pure entertainment and not only use typical percussion instruments but also less conventional means to make music. In 2007, the Tyrolean group won the “Artist of the Year” prize awarded by Austrian broadcaster ORF. Other international stars will follow “the next step” in April: before “The Killers” rock the summit on 30 April at the end of the skiing season, “Culcha Candela” will be guests at the “Top of the Mountain Easter Concert” on 24 April in Ischgl.
