NAVIGON Flow – the new, easy way of navigation

Variety of features and intuitive operation of navigation devices: with the new NAVIGON Flow navigation software, users get both. Thanks to its clear layout they are always able to quickly find the function or setting they need. For two years the developers have been working on the product that sets new standards in terms of user-friendliness.

Hamburg and Munich, IFA previews 2011 – Intuitive operation and user-friendliness have always been at the heart of the NAVIGON brand. That is why the navigation specialist has equipped its devices with numerous clever features in recent years, which allow users to drive stress-free and arrive at their destination safely. Yet such features will only make life easier if they are actually used. That is as much the case for navigation devices as it is for smartphones. For instance, every day the majority of users only take advantage of a fraction of the features available on their latest mobile phones: they mostly use them for making calls or surfing the Internet.1 Additional features are only seldom used, if at all.

Time for new navigation software

NAVIGON_Flow_lowresIt’s a similar situation with modern navigation devices: continual enhancements in recent years mean that the devices now offer numerous useful features that make driving safer and more comfortable. Yet this growing range of features and their integration in operating systems also means that the devices are becoming ever more complex to operate. “We have learnt from our users that only very few of them take full advantage of the range of features on their devices,” says Jörn Watzke, executive vice-president of Product Line Management at NAVIGON AG. “For us, that was a crucial indication that the time had come to develop a new software so that the diverse features on modern navigation devices could be used intuitively. With NAVIGON Flow we have consciously decided to adopt a new approach instead of building on the range of features on our existing system.”

A new operating experience thanks to NAVIGON Flow

The starting signal for the development of NAVIGON Flow was given more than two years ago. The aim was to produce navigation software that sets new standards in terms of user-friendliness and clearly displays essential options in the field of vision of the user. “With NAVIGON Flow we have not only achieved our aim, we have exceeded it,” says Jörn Watzke. By fundamentally restructuring the user interface, the device can now be operated even more intuitively. Users don’t have to think too long about how to adjust a particular setting – the finger more or less “knows” how to activate a certain feature and gravitates virtually automatically to the right place. In addition, thanks to a new and clearer layout and larger buttons, individual features are easier to find. The first devices to feature NAVIGON Flow will be presented at the IFA.
