Premiere for new navigation software: 42 series devices the first to feature NAVIGON Flow

NAVIGON presents the 42 series, whose models are the first to feature the newly developed NAVIGON Flow navigation software. The clear display, easy-to-understand structure and intuitive operation are all impressive. The devices will be available in shops from September.

Kasten_NAVIGON42_ENBerlin, IFA 2011 – Premiere for NAVIGON Flow: the new devices of the 42 series are the first to feature the new navigation software that allows the navigation device to be operated intuitively. “We developed the software with the aim of making the functions that are used most often simple to access with just a few clicks,” explains Jörn Watzke, Executive Vice President of Product Line Management at NAVIGON. “We are delighted to be able to present the results for the first time with the release of the devices in the 42 series.”

Intuitive operating experience

The central elements of the new navigation software are the focus on clear display of maps and the three menu options “Destination Entry”, “Map View” and “Navigation Options”. Users can switch between the menus at any time without interrupting the current navigation. Operation is like turning the pages of a book. A function bar with easy-to-understand icons completes the navigation menu and ensures that users always know which menu they are currently using. The result is a new, intuitive operating experience that provides extra safety due to the fact that the driver is able to remain fully concentrated on the road ahead.

Easy to Premium – three navigation devices with 4.3-inch display

There are three 4.3-inch devices in the new 42 series – the NAVIGON 42 Easy, the NAVIGON 42 Plus and the NAVIGON 42 Premium. The NAVIGON 42 Easy entry-level model offers all the basic features to guide drivers quickly and safely around 20 European countries. For instance, the “Active Lane NAVIGON42Easy_Front_MN8_MainMenu_UK_lowresAssistant” helps drivers to get into the correct lane in good time with the help of additional animation. In addition to map material for 44 countries, those who opt for the NAVIGON 42 Plus get a classily designed device as well as the features “Text-to-Speech” and “Spoken TMC”. The announcements keep drivers informed about distances, street names and traffic reports. The flagship of the series is the NAVIGON 42 Premium. The navigation device for sophisticated tastes includes all the functions of the NAVIGON 42 Plus as well as four further features: the improved TMC Routing informs drivers about the latest incoming traffic reports by means of a traffic jam ticker. In combination with NAVTEQ Traffic, congestions will be identified in good time – in which case the navigation device suggests an alternative route. Thanks to “Panorama View3D” the landscape is realistically displayed on the screen. For greater safety, navigation can be entirely controlled by voice with the help of the “Sophisticated Voice Command 2.0”. The Bluetooth hands-free set 2.0” allows two mobile phones to be connected at the same time, so that users can make and receive private and business calls safely whilst on the move.
