NAVIGON presents the first on-board navigation for Windows Phone 7.5
The successful navigation app from NAVIGON is now also available for smartphones with Windows Phone 7.5¹ - also referred to as Mango. “NAVIGON for Windows Phone 7” is an on-board navigation solution – all the data necessary for navigation is stored on the device. As a result, route guidance continues to function even when there is no mobile phone signal. Thanks to the wide range of features, the NAVIGON app is more comprehensive than any other navigation application for this operating system.
Hamburg, 11 October 2011 – NAVIGON is now navigating owners of smartphones with the Windows Phone 7 operating system. The on-board navigation solution is now available from Windows Phone Marketplace and runs on devices compatible with Windows Phone from version 7.5 (Mango) onwards. “With the introduction of the new navigation app we are offering our award-winning software for another promising platform,” says Gerhard Mayr, Vice President of World-Wide Mobile Phone Business at NAVIGON. “Users can enjoy the first on-board navigation solution for Windows Phone 7. The seamless integration into the operating system guarantees easy use and orientation right from the beginning.”
Lane Assistant Pro and Traffic Live
The new navigation application features numerous functions with which NAVIGON has already set standards on other smartphone platforms. These include “Lane Assistant Pro”, that shows drivers which lane they need to be in or “NAVIGON MyRoutes”, which suggests up to three different routes – tailored to the personal driving style, the day of the week and the time of day. “Traffic Live” provides traffic information in real time. In addition, drivers can be guided directly to destinations from their address book or use the “Reality Scanner”. It displays points of interest located in the surrounding area in the live image of the smartphone camera. With “NAVIGON Shortcut”, users can store favourites such as their home address as a shortcut directly on their Windows Phone 7 home screen.
Pedestrian navigation and intuitive operation
Thanks to the integrated Pedestrian Navigation, the smartphone can also be used as a mobile guide outside the car. Besides being versatile, the app is also impressively easy to use. The “Smart Speller” automatically recognises street names when the destination is entered. Furthermore, destinations can also be entered using geo-coordinates.
Price and availability
In terms of map material, users have two versions to choose from: NAVIGON Europe with 44 countries and NAVIGON USA. From 11 October until 15 November NAVIGON Europe will be available at the reduced introductory price of €59.49 instead of €84.99, the US version for €25.99 instead of €42.49. This corresponds to a price discount of around 30 and 39 percent respectively. The app can now be downloaded from the Windows Phone Marketplace to all devices which run the Windows Phone Mango release.
NAVIGON traffic4all for Windows Phone 7
The free NAVIGON app traffic4all is also now available on Windows Phone 7. The app shows the traffic situation in the immediate vicinity in real time. In addition, potential traffic jams for other destinations and concrete addresses in Europe, the USA and Canada can be displayed. Once traffic4all has been started, the map view displays current traffic flow in various colours – from normal (green) and slow (yellow) to traffic congestion (red) and blocked (black and white). If users want to be informed about the expected traffic situation at a certain time, they can use the traffic4all forecast function. NAVIGON traffic4all is available at no cost in the Windows Phone Marketplace. An upgrade option turns off the integrated ads.
