London, 29th August 2008 - The new NAVIGON 1200/1210 and 2200/2210 series sat navs, launched in the UK today, offer price-conscious buyers a highly attractive entry-level navigation option. The NAVIGON 1200 with UK and Ireland maps and the 1210 with maps of 40 European countries deliver modern design and ease of use with extensive functionality at an excellent price. For the more demanding user, the NAVIGON 2200 with UK and Ireland maps and 2210 with 40 European country maps offer a more premium alternative for entry-level buyers with integrated Pro versions of Reality View and Speed Assistant plus Text-to-Speech and integrated Traffic (TMC) receiver should customers wish to add this service. Both units are extremely slim design but the 2200/2210 comes in a more striking, chrome frame design.

The new NAVIGON sat navs incorporate the latest software technology as well as the latest Lane Assistant Pro offering a better overview and showing the ideal lane position before a turn-off at multi-lane junctions. Lane Assistant Pro also indicates the next turn so lane positioning makes sense through a complete manoeuvre. Other new features include Emergency Help, which gives access to all relevant information on the nearest hospital, police station, garages and pharmacies at a single click (contact data such as addresses and telephone numbers are also provided). Furthermore, in addition to two million pre-entered special destinations, users can now save their own favourites to the map under a name of their choice and indicated by a special icon.

The NAVIGON 1200/1210 series comes equipped with a 'lite' version of Reality View to display motorway exits realistically but unlike the NAVIGON 2200/2210 series, the 1200/1210 series does not have the option of upgrading to Traffic information delivered over RDS/TMC.

For the more demanding user who still wants an entry-level solution, the NAVIGON 2200/2210 series includes Reality View Pro to display exits at multi-lane crossroads in urban areas as well as full signposting at complex motorway exits and junctions. Also included is Text-to-speech to announce the turns with the road names and numbers.  The integrated TMC traffic information module with the TMC antenna cleverly integrated into the car charger cable, works in all countries with free-to-air traffic information services. Sadly there are no free-to-air providers in the UK but with an upgrade to a lifetime premium TMC license costing just £40 from the NAVIGON Fresh online service, users can have the best traffic information available. A special icon pops-up on screen telling the user the severity of the traffic issue on their route and the distance. Touching the icon gives more information and prompts the driver to ignore the alert or to request a detour.

The NAVIGON 1200/1210 and 2200/2210 series calculate even the most complex routes quickly with a 375 MHz processor and 64 MB RAM and all the devices can use the NAVIGON Fresh online service, which allows you to upgrade the units regularly. Through the NAVIGON Fresh service users can add additional features such as Landmark View 3D and also access map update services. NAVIGON FreshMaps offers maps of 40 European countries, which are updated every three months. The price of a 24-month subscription is £79.99. The memory of both the 1200/1210 and 2200/2210 series can easily be expanded by means of a Micro SD card.
